Jessica Sweetman - Silver Lining
Jessica Sweetman, Singer Songwriter was born in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
In 2013, Jessica supported Keane in concert and also played Benicassim Festival in Spain where headliners were the Killers and Arctic Monkeys. She was the featured vocalist and co-writer on the track, ‘In Your Arms’ with DJ Andy Moor and Armin Van Buuren. This well known dance track was featured on Armin Van Buuren’s compilation, ‘A State of Trance’.
2014 is set for Jessica performing at Groove Festival in Ireland on the same bill as Paloma Faith and David Gray. Sweetman will also be returning back to Benicassim Festival in Valencia with her band to play for a second year running where headliners are Ellie Goulding and Paolo Nutini. Jessica has confirmed a slot at this year’s Day Tripper Festival in Waterford, Ireland where headliners are The Kaiser Chiefs and also will be playing a set at Greenwich Music Time Festival where headliners are Jools Holland and Goldfrapp.
Jessica and her band recently played a show for Jools Holland in November 2013 at The Boisdale Club, playing a set of her originals including her most popular songs, ‘Empty Room’ and ‘Tom’s Gone’.
Jessica grew up in Sutton Coldfield. She started singing at the age of 16 years old where she did her first live performance in a Pizza Express in Birmingham. She walked in one day and asked the manager if they would audition her to play a regular night every Wednesday. They agreed to listen to her and liked what they heard so gave her the residency she came in for.
At the age of 17, Jessica and her family moved to Cornwall, where they lived in a caravan for a year before settling down properly into their family home. This is where Jessica started writing and found her creative side as a Songwriter. At the same time, Jessica went to college but continuously kept dropping out, realising her heart was set on the stage and her writing. Failing academically at college numerous times by not turning up for lessons but instead focusing on her latest songs and what she really wanted to do, helped her make the decision to move to London to carry out her dream. Within days of making her decision, she packed her bags, booked a one way bus ticket, and found a small room in the heart of Soho where she began her new musical life in the big city.
Within her first week of living in a Soho, she played Ronnie Scott’s and supported Brit Award artist, Finley Quaye for two nights at The Troubadour.
Jessica’s most recent works have been ‘Empty Room’, ‘Tom’s Gone’ and ‘His Love’ which will all be released Autumn 2014. Sweetman wrote ‘Empty Room’ about her days of singing in empty bars to sometimes no one. She wrote it one night in a cigar room she was performing in when there wasn’t one person there but yet she still had to continue singing for three hours. The words are heartfelt and emotional and a song that most artists would be able to relate to at some point in their lives.
how game of thrones should end
#khal drogo just #descends from the heavens #on a flaming stallion #punches everyone in the face #and sits his fine dothraki ass down on the iron throne #until daenerys shows up #then he stands #dusts the seat off a bit #and steps aside for his khalessi
do not pity the dead, harry, pity the living, and above all those who think feminism means hating men.
This gives me hope.
